Thank you very much for coming. JIMTOF2008 was a great success.
The 24th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF2008), one of the three major machine tool trade fairs in the world, was held for six days from October 30 to November 4 at Tokyo Big Sight. This year's JIMTOF attracted many customers not only in Japan but also in other countries around the world. A total of 829 companies from 15 countries and regions participated in the event, which greatly exceeded the previous JIMTOF's, and Mori Seiki had the largest booth at the event. Focusing on our new products, we displayed a total of 18 machine tools, peripheral equipment as well as cutting-edge machining technologies and services, and showed live machining demonstrations.

The Akishino Mold Laboratory has been established to act as our customers' best partner for die & mold machining.
As the die & mold industry has reached maturity and there is a greater need for" short delivery schedules," "high quality" and "low costs," Mori Seiki established the Akishino Mold Laboratory within the Nara Campus No. 2 Plant in May 2007, as a support facility to provide backup to our die & mold manufacturing customers.

Our new factories started full-scale operation in 2007. The global Iga Campus keeps evolving.
Among the many machine tool manufacturers, Mori Seiki is said to have a high in-house production rate. By producing as many parts as possible in-house, from important components which have a large effect on machining accuracy such as spindles, ball screws, curvic couplings, DDM™ (Direct Drive Motor), etc, to parts which support the machine tool base such as cast iron and sheet metal, etc, we have dramatically reduced delivery times and have maximized product quality. Meanwhile, in 2006, we established the Casting, the Ball Screw, the Spindle and the Sheet Metal Plants one after another at our Iga Campus, which is an integrated production base. These plants will start full operation in 2007, aiming to achieve one of the targets stated in our medium-term management plan, "Establish a system that produces a minimum of 800 machines per month.

With the establishment of the Quality Assurance Department, we are allocating all our resources into quality management.
No matter how advanced machines may become, the customer's number one need remains the quality and reliability of a mission critical system. Last year Mori Seiki initiated a new three-point domestic production system at Iga, Nara, and Chiba. This has allowed us to rethink " quality " (the basis for all manufacturing) and thereby begin a new era that will translate into company-wide action.
