Application System
A New High-Performance Operating System
MAPPS III for CNC Lathes

Graphics performance has been dramatically improved, the system features intuitive operation, and both setup time and programming time have been shortened. MAPPS III is characterized by unsparing use of state-of-the-art technology, has been developed with a constant focus on the operator's perspective, and is an NC unit that Mori Seiki takes pride in throughout the world.
Main Features
- • Advanced hardware
- A high-performance system that is very reliable even in punishing environments, a memory area that can store large volumes of data, and fast processing capability that frees the operator from stress....
MAPPS III incorporates the high specification hardware that you might expect of a third generation NC unit. - • Exceptional operating convenience
- With features like a high-visibility display, an easy-to-use keyboard, and a pointing device that shows its real worth in 3D cutting simulations, this is a userfriendly interface that has been thoroughly thought out from the operator's point of view.
- • Faster creation of programs
- Enhancing the various programming functions has made it possible to cut overall program creation time by over 30%.
- • Faster setup
- These functions reduce the time needed for preparations as well as help prevent mistakes during setup.
- • Minimizing machine down time
- The ability to manage regular maintenance and inspection from the operation panel means less machine down time.
Functions
3D cutting simulation

It makes checking machining shapes and tool paths simple.
Drawing simulation time comparison

MAPPS III's drawing simulation processing speed is much faster than MAPPS II's - about a 70% time reduction for a workpiece requiring 8 processes.

- • Simulations of manually created G code programs, and not just programs entered using the conversational function, are also possible (including sub-programs)
- • Zooming and rotation are available during simulations and tool trajectories can be displayed
Conversational direct operation function and conversational direct drawing function
Conversational data entered based on the drawings can be used to perform a drawing check (direct drawing) and to carry out direct operation, all without creating an NC program. After entry of the conversational data, the data can immediately be used for operation, reducing the setup time.
- Advantages
- • Does not require NC memory (program storage capacity)
- • Because NC text conversion is not required, this function is ideal for single workpieces where shorter setup times are particularly important

3D interference checking function (NZ Series)
With multi-axis machining, even minor operating errors can cause collisions in the machine. You can check for interference in 3D for spindles, workpieces, soft jaws, tools, holders and turrets.

Since the machine will stop when interference is detected either in manual or in automatic mode, we have achieved the world's safest system against interference.
*The 3D interference checking function will check for interference accurately as long as the 3D model exactly matches the actual configuration of the spindles, workpieces, soft jaws, tools, holders and turrets. *Customized design is required for special shape. *A cutting simulation that shows how material is removed as machining proceeds cannot be carried out during a 3D interference check.
Interference check function
Since it checks for interference in both automatic and manual modes, you will have peace of mind from setup right through to program operation.

High-speed canned cycles (Option NL Series: Y and SY types)

The screen guidance helps the operator enter arguments for canned cycles.
A single-line program can suffice to provide instructions for high-speed cutting.

High-speed machining for shorter machining times
- • In addition to the functions from the SEICOS SHG1 control, a new cycle has been added that simplifies the complex programming required for high-speed machining
Shorter programming time
- • Automatic generation of the optimal tool paths for high-speed machining
- • Support for troublesome program formats
- • Menu-driven operation that does not require a manual
The machine has been designed to increase efficiency by cutting in three directions, and to have higher precision by taking into account tool flexure
R groove cycle by R tip tool (turning)
With the step feed the chips are cut off and chip blockage does not occur
With the step feed the chips are cut off and chip wrapping is minimized
Network
An Internet Machine Monitoring Service
MORI-NET Grobal Edition
Mori Seiki's MORI-NET Global Edition is a support service using communication terminals and the Internet.
The Mori Seiki can keep an eye on all your machines, simply by connecting your machines to our network.
System for Data Management
MORI-SERVER
- • Fill requests from multiple Mori Seiki machines simultaneously from a central server connected over an Ethernet network.
- • NC data is stored as files on your PCs hard drive, allowing daily backup of machine data.

* If you are using NC units other than MAPPS, please contact your Mori Seiki representative.
